Bad Karma

Kael had a soft rumbling in his throat, he didn't like being threatened, he also knew that if he wasn't careful these were the kinds of people who would find out about Melody's power and try to use it, he hated the thought so all he could do was agree, knowing it was the best chance he had of saving her and figuring out what was going on here.

"I'll consent, but i want to know what's going on here, I was brought up on justice and I don't care who dispenses it, I want in" He had a theory but he didn't want to say anything here. He continued his line of thought, "I wanna know how long I'm going to be here and what the side effects of your tampering may be"

Being in mid lunge, Kyle froze for a minute when he saw Warp leaping from the rubble at him. He knew what Warp's plan was: to make contact with him and then teleport him to that alternate realm where Kyle would be powerless. No, he wasn't about to let that happen. Reaching out, he grabbed a piece of the rubble and pulled. The rubble moved easily but it didn't matter. He used it to slow his momentum, then shot away from Warp to the outside. Kyle didn't want to have to hurt him and Darkwing, but they left him no choice. Pulling his arm back, he fired off a blast of his energy, uncontrolled and violent, towards the remains of the room.

"Do you take me for a fool Mr. Forrester? We don't trust you, and you have no reason to trust us. It'll be best for the both of us that you know only the bare minimum of information. And that will become apparent to you as time progresses. All you need to know now though is that what we are doing will benefit humanity as a whole and in the end, you will be free to leave, assuming you cooperate of course. Now, if you'd kindly come with me, we have your... room... ready."

The Doctor beckoned for Kael to follow him out of the room. The soldiers present were getting in formation around Kael in order to transfer him to another part of the facility. The last thing they needed was an enemy combatant running around the place.

The blast fired from Kyle came in hard, blowing away whatever rubble was scattered around. James quickly reacted, creating a bubble of twilight energy around the three. The blast was intense though, and it took all of James' will to keep the shield up as the wave passed. One the blast had finally dissipated James dropped the shield and dropped to one knee. He was breathing heavily, that blast had taken alot out of him, but he would be back in the fight soon enough...

It seemed as though the situation was getting out of hand. Which is one of the reasons Karma had never been fond of Forte. He was unpredictable, likely to destroy his friends instead of his enemies depending on whatever suited him at the time. No matter however powerful a being was, without control, without focus, it was useless.

Fortunately for Karma, he had the support of two world class hero's, and months of planning on his side. It looked like things were going to work out fairly easily as he and his compatriots opened fire, but as the bullets whizzed passed their target without connecting Karma began to get frustrated. This nuisance was costing him far to much time.

As Forte leapt from the room, Karma casually placed himself behind Warp and the incoming attack, and his faith in his subordinate was thankfully not misplaced. The clash of raw power against Warps carefully constructed shield was bright and beautiful. Unhooking a grenade from his belt Karma tossed it casually into the air where Forte had escaped to, it exploded with a bright flash and a wave of pressure that, while not lethal, would hopefully disorient Forte long enough for Karma to complete his plan.

"Do you have enough left to get me to the ship?" he asked quietly as he reloaded his weapon. Hopefully Darkwing could get to the roof with the rest of his forces and evacuate safely.

Karone had taken the opportunity to flee toward the roof through the broken ceiling, immediately after the clash of energy had died down. She knew Forte's power level made defeating him difficult, and a waste of precious time for retreat. The storm could not be held forever, and eventually opposition would be met and they would be overwhelmed. As much as she wished to be in the thick of action, the operation must not be jeopardised.

She landed in front of a small group of troops, Karma's personal security no doubt from where they are positioned. "How many vans do we have left?" She asked.

"Two, ma'am."

Karone nodded. "There are three of our men trapped on the admin office level," she said looking down. "I want them brought up here as soon as possible." Ordering the extraction of the three men incapitated by Forte was indeed risky, but it was preferable to not leave human evidence, and most importantly to minimise loses. The cost of training each commando was too costly to go to waste.

Kyle's eyes momentarily showed surprise when Warp created a barrier that deflected his energy blast with ease. It had the same color as that Twilight realm that Warp could go to, which was interesting enough. But Kyle didn't have time to worry about the details. He needed to take them both down, now. He didn't care if Warp was with the RPCE, the lack of them made it obvious he was helping an outside source: which made him no better than anyone else.

Movement from behind Warp caught Kyle's attention and his eyes followed what it was. At the last second he noticed what it was and turned away as it exploded in a bright flash, preventing him from looking that way. But he still knew what direction they laid in since he all he did was turn his head away, so raising his arm, he focused his energy onto one finger. Releasing it, a small finger sized beam fired off towards them. Hopefully the smaller beam would catch them off guard and give him the opening he needed.

James took a deep breath and said, "Yeah, I think I can get us back..." Suddenly a thin laser blasted right in between James and Karma and sliced through the badly damaged wall behind them. "Sonuvabitch..." James muttered. He pulled a small metal box from his belt and flipped the top third open. Inside was a black button and two LED lights, on flashing red, the other off. James pressed the button and dropped the box on the ground. The red light had stopped flashing and the other light had lit up green. James grabbed Karma's shoulder and warped to the ship.

"Get us out of here! Now!" James yelled to the pilot. They had only seconds before the device went off. The pilot began to lift off and in a moment they were on their way to Ithica's island base...

Back in the Admin Office the small box flashed green one last time and then the light went out entirely. The Ithica soldiers who had been sent to retrieve their fallen comrades and then left behind looked at the box, frozen in shock. They knew what came next. The box exploding in gray light, engulfing everything around it and spreading out. Everything within the immediate area was pulled into this blinding gray sphere. As quickly as it exploded it vanished, and along with it everything that had been in the sphere. The entire Admin Office and area around it were gone, no scorching, no rubble, nothing, it was as if it was all pulled out of existence...

The remaining Ithica troops did as they were ordered to and made their ways to their appropriate evac. Some fled on the last remaining boats, others took to the roofs and left via helicopter. The few unlucky soldiers who were captured did as they had been conditioned to do in that situation and activated a special harness they wore. Once activated the harness incinerated them. There would be no prisoners. In a matter of minutes the island had gone from utter chaos to deathly silence. Prometheus Academy had been badly damaged, parts of it burnt down or blown up entirely, not to mention the now non-existent admin office. A few minutes later the RPCE and other police forces had arrived at the scene, but they were too late. Ithica had gotten away, and an all too convenient storm managed to cover up the location of where they had fled to. The real storm, however, was just beginning.
